Title: Tempest Midi CC Output / USB noise interference
Post by: twixxed on May 19, 2018, 09:33:10 AM
Hi fellow music makers,

I just hooked up my Tempest to my Mac with Midi I/O and slaved it to Logic so it can happily play along all the other stuff.
I'm using a few softsynths and thought it would actually be cool to use the Tempest ribbon faders as a controller.
Am I missing something or does the Tempest not even transmit one single Midi CC? If so, why is Midi so poorly implemented, given it is a product from Dave and Roger? I understand that it's probably not made to be a controller, but why not having the option is just weird. I don't have so much room on the desk I'm working at right now and there's only one Midi I/O on an RME Babyface. Which brings me to the next point:
As an alternative I thought about using the knobs of my desktop mono Evolver, but I'd need an extra Midi I/O. So I hooked up the Tempest via USB and the Evolver via Midi. But now I have some very nasty noise interference. As soon as I remove the USB plug from the Tempest it's gone. Do you have a clue why this is happening and what I can do to prevent this? Do I need a DI box?

Thanks in advance <3

This topic has been exhausted to death and we all feel as you do..DSI made a choice to not invest in proper Midi implementation but instead use the available memory for other tasks that had in mind for this machine.Tempest can only accept curtain CC’s that can be found in tips & tricks thread..
