Title: Nord Lead 4 examples
Post by: LoboLives on November 15, 2017, 03:29:28 AM
Hey guys, if anyone here has a Nord Lead 4 I'm trying to look for some examples of the machine using the non standard wavetable: Bells, tines, pianos, digital. Every demo I see almost always uses the typical VA sawwaves and such.

No one has a Nord Lead 4 here?

Lobo Lives.  When I get a chance I can go thru my banks and pick out some good home made FM patches as well as some of the weirder sounds that I've made utilizing the other wave shapes on the Nord lead 4.    The factory presets don't showcase much in that realm.   Maybe this weekend I can get to that.  I know you wanted to hear similarly on the P12.  I've been messing with that mostly as of late and may be able to demo some of those too.

Wonderful thank you so much. Can’t wait to hear.

Amazing. Thanks so much. Based on these it sounds like it can get some really nice DX7 and PPG type tones. I think they would be good to mix alongside my analog gear.

We'll have to see what happens this NAMM. If Nord bring out a better synth with the FM abilities of the G2 and the sampling of the WAVE or if DSI actually do another hybrid or digital synth all together.

Lobo, play one in person.  To me, their keybeds are disappointingly cheap feeling — I’m basing that off of my experience with Nord Lead 4 and A1.  Some people won’t mind it, but I feel you might.

I do, however, really enjoy the Nord sound and architecture. Great synthesis engines.  You might consider a module?

Have you considered a second hand NL3,it has great FM implementation, far more flexible and more in sync with typical DX/FM than just modulating the oscillators like on most of the NL

The NL3 is my goto DX/PPG emulation machine,It's sort of a slimmed down version of the G2 series, very good for those typical DX/PPG clangs and metallic sounding timbres,I never liked the programming methods that come with DX/FM as its steep learning curve learning all the options but the NL3 allows you to create FM sounds easily using a more friendly typical VA interface.

As far as I know, all Nord keybeds are Fatar... They just tend to use the non weighted synth action models in some of their products... I had a G1 once and I actually liked the keybed, simply because it was not that heavy to the touch, and the travel not too deep... It actually allowed me to play quicker... So one really need to try a keybed yourself to figure out if a keybed is for you or not... Saying it is cheap and bad may be anothers cool and expressive  :)
