Title: Replacement knobs for tetra
Post by: Dt300 on November 13, 2017, 03:04:49 AM
Hello
I'm looking to get a knobreplacement for the tetra. Where can I get a set that matches this particular model?
Preferably in Europe.
Thanks

You can purchase the knobs directly from DSI.  Go to https://www.davesmithinstruments.com/store/ and choose the Tetra. The site will show you what is available for the Tetra including replacement knobs.

Yes thanks
I did google and found the parts and accessories pages however, most of the instruments have dedicated knobsets but obviously the tetrapage only has the powerbrick, hence my posted question.
Is it possible to get a matching set?
Preferably in Europe.
Thanks

That's weird, as all the other products have the knobs listed and they are all the same knobs, no matter which instrument.  If you look at the Mopho page it has the same knobs the Tetra uses, even though it originally came with Evolver style knobs.  The Mopho has as many dials as the Tetra and the same configuration, i.e. six encoders and five pots.  Ordering the knobs for the Mopho should work, but why not drop support an email just confirming that they are actually the same caps?

Yes thank you, i looked at the other knobsets in the store but none of them matches the tetra from what i can see.
The desktop mophoset has a configurarion of 10 without indicator and 1 silver with indicator.
On the tetra however there should be 8 non indicateted knobcaps and 3 with indicator, all black.
I sent an email to DSI support but nobody got back so i thought maybe the forums was the right place to get assistance. Maybe i should order from Farnell and be done with it.  It won’t look good but what else to do?

Oh yes, you are correct.  My brain was telling me that all four of the bottom row had indicators.  I don't use the indicators as any sort of guide as they are never in the right spot except for the volume, as a result I forget they are even there.

Bugger.  Give it a couple of days, they are a small company.

I had to replace the caps on my Microwave XTk as they disintegrated.  I went through all the different electronics suppliers around here and found some suitably gaudy green and black caps to really set-off the orange.  I also replaced the caps on my Nandamonium, but took the classy path with that; nice brushed black aluminium with an indicator groove I filled in with modeller's paint for the oscillators and some scaled duckheads for the mixer knobs.

Hi Dt300-

Apologies if you haven't yet received a reply. We generally get back to people within one business day. Did you use a different email address than the one you signed up for the forum with? I don't see that email address in our support system.

Yes thank you for replying. Got some really ugly scratches on the caps. The actual knobs is allright. I am having trouble finding a new original matching knobset, or even better, just the topcaps my tetra.
Where can I find replacements, preferably in Europe?
Thanks

They're made by a company in the USA and they're custom for us, so it's unlikely you'll find them in Europe. Your best bet is to contact our tech support department. You didn't say if you used a different email address or if you'd received a reply, so I'm not sure where that issue stands.

I usually include my @hotmail adress when dealing with supportissues but I can't remember for sure.  I might have used some other address but don't think so. I usually prefer @hotmail for the convenience of keeping supportissues and such out of my personal and work emails. But of course I could be mistaken. Maybe it would be possible to get the information about where to order the knobs suitable for the tetra in this forumpost, if it is possible to get such a set and also what the charge is. There might be others that find this post when looking for the same item so it can't be wrong to post the answer here since it is not possible to find a tetra replacement knobset in the support webbshop at the moment. It would be great and convenient to be able to go ahead and order a kit from the Dsi supportpage or even better, through a musicgear store in Europe.
I'm really sorry the opened support ticket with my emailadress got lost somehow.  Hope you can help me getting the knobs or knobcaps anyway.
Thanks for again replying

I suggest contacting our dedicated support channel again. We'll be able to help you at that way.
