Title: Alternate Tunings in Mopho x4
Post by: wbajzek on June 18, 2017, 03:41:00 PM
Now that all the Prophet Rev2 includes alternate tunings, can we please get that added to the Mopho X4?

I guess the answer is no.

If anyone's interested, you can tune your Mopho very very close to 31edo with the following settings:
both oscillators fine tune: same for both
both oscillators keyboard: off
slop: 0 (as a starting place)
modulator 1 source: keynumber
modulator 1 destination: oscallfreq
modulator 1 amount: 99

There are now 31 keys to the octave instead of 12. This is weird because the keyboard now spans only a little most than a major 10th, but it means you can find a way to play most chords that have a purer sound than they normally would.

You can get 19edo by starting with the same patch, and add:
modulator 2 source: keynumber
modulator 2 destination: oscallfreq
modulator 2 amount: 63

The octaves are still a bit wide with these settings, but you can map modwheel to Mod 2 Amt, amount -1, and turn the mod wheel up slightly until it is in tune. Then you may need to adjust the fine on both oscillators until it is in tune with your reference pitch if you are using one. The same is the case for the 31edo settings but it's much closer.

There are now 19 keys to the octave instead of 12. The keyboard spans two octaves and a major 3rd. Like with 31edo, you can find purer versions of some normal chords, although not as many, and melodically it's going to sound weirder.

Have fun, or not :p
