Hey guys, I'm new here
I am planning to buy a Rev2 in the next weeks, but I usually listen to dozens of videos on YouTube and everywhere else before pushing the button, to make sure what I purchase is close to what I want and that I do not get a (bad) surprise when it arrives.
I am sure a lot of other people do the same.
So could you please post some more demos on YouTube (or somewhere else)? We'd really appreciate ;D
Cheers

Folks might as well post links to those Rev2 videos on this thread. Comparisons between the Rev 2 and the Prophet '08 will be especially interesting.

That Twin Peaks one is mind blowing!
Since my post, only 3 videos have been submitted.. c'mon people! This must be a fricking great synth that no one even have time to post videos, only to play it :)

Hi there, just registered to post this vid (not mine btw). The REV2 is going to be my first analog poly and I really can't wait to receive it here in Holland. I think it will be an awesome addition to my Moog SP, Virus B, Roland JU-06, TB3 and TR8. =)
Very long video with a lot of presets:

Thanks for the link! I'm having mine delivered at the end of the month, so until then I'm video hunting too :)
I too have a Sub Phatty, so I think the REV2 will be a nice addition...(no other synths though, will be my second one). Best thoughts from Bucharest!
-
Not sure if it was posted before but it's about 30 minutes of Rev 2 presets. Some of these sound fantastic. Would be a nice companion piece to the Prophet 6.

That video does have some fabulous sounds in it. The Rev2 truly appears to be an improvement on the Prophet '08. Now if only DSI will make a Rev2 Module, then I'll have my ideal instrument.
Please, fellas, don't give us the keyboard version but stop there! Finish the job and make a module version!

A new Rev2 video just showed up by GEOSynths, some nice home made patches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNZ83epRGQE
I am getting a bit fed up with the looooong wait for the Rev2 to arrive here in the Netherlands. My (not so) local shop thinks they have the first batch within 4 weeks (whooooooaaaa 4 weeks longer ;-). At my age I shouldn't be so impatient .....

Thanks for the video, Gerry. Some cool stuff in there!
Regarding shipping in Europe (mainland): I know how you feel. Until two days ago my dealer in Germany had a shipping date within this week, but then postponed it to July 31st. I now ordered one from a UK-Dealer instead (gear4music) and just got the confirmation that the REV2 is already on its way. You could think about that, too.

Wow that is amazing, so the UK has got priority ..... I used to live there ;-).
I am quite loyal to my music shop in Eindhoven, so I just wait. They know what I need, even if I don't know myself. If it wasn't for them (and a shop in Munich) I would have gotten a DM12 already. I ought to show some maturity here, I should be able to foster up some patience, but ........
-
Also waiting in Eindhoven and also not inclined to get it somewhere else. Luckily videos are finally emerging, not sure if its making the waiting less or more hard by the way ;-)

Definitely harder...
So we are waiting for the same shipment, ha ha ;-). I am bothering the shop (Harold or Ron from i4-muzique) at least twice a week, hoping they won't forget me. From the video's and demo's I really believe I made the right choice, so I am just sticking with it. Actually I "met" some really nice supportive people here in this forum. That would have never happened if I hadn't changed my mind, nice.

I admire your patience. I do almost feel bad for being a bit childish about it. But, to be honest, I just didn't have that much of a connection to the shop I originally intended to buy it from so I thought I give it a try in the UK.
It's my first "big" synth. Before that I just had a few older cheap Monosynths and all kinds of VSTs but DSI always seemed like something I want to go for some day. When the REV2 was presented it just seemed to be the right choice, at least I immediately knew that I'll have to try it. Now I'm really eager to find out how I get along with it once it is actually there.
And yes, this forum is super supportive und friendly. Haven't posted much but it definitely provided me with lots of helpful information already. Very cool.

Awesome, just tot word that in 2/3 weeks the Prophet Will arrive in my favorite store. So Gerry, you can expect a mail from Ron tomorrow ;)

Order it from the UK! I ordered mine on Thursday and it turned up yesterday.
If you ordered it today it would be there in a week

Great video's! Thanks for sharing :)

@STB- Please give us your thoughts after you have had a chance to live with it a little while. If it's like my experience with a new DSI, it becomes your new best friend. It gets a little strange when you want to take your new find out for drinks (the wife starts giving you weird looks :o ), but the relationship settles down and you'll find that you have new musical partner for life!

Sure! I've had it for about a week now. It's the tremendous machine I hoped it to be.
It's super accessible und just fun to play with. On the one hand I was able to get the sounds I wanted out of it pretty quickly, on the other hand there are just so many other possibilities to discover over the next weeks and months.
The built quality is great and - coming from the piano - the keys feel super.
I've had no issues with jumpy encoders so far. Osc1 and Osc2 pitch can be a bit fiddly because they seem a bit over sensitive. Though I don't have the impression that the encoders behave erratically. Still it's a discussion I'll keep an eye on.
Soundwise the REV2 has a great versatility. From very classic analog sound design (as you would expect from an analog synth) to the broader possibilities the concept of the REV2 allows it'll likely become my main instrument for the next weeks. What I'm impressed with it is how focused it feels. While it offers quiet a few possibilities it still has a nice minimal touch to it.
So, yeah: I'm amazed but still at the beginning of discovering what the REV2 can be about. I'm really looking forward to other users sharing their thoughts on their REVs too.

A great, very enthusiastic, demonstration by Gerry Bassermann https://youtu.be/-mQwZTFwqAg - it's all in the name of course ;)

....did someone just say "The Andromeda....not so good." ?
-
Yes, I caught that under-the-breath remark as well. I suppose he may have been referring to the Andromeda's problems - its bugs, lack of company support, etc. But it's an unpardonable offense nevertheless! :o

I was about to say! Alesis Andromeda may have it's problems but it's way more of a powerhouse and has way more capability than the Rev 2.

Allright guys and girls I will distance myself from my name sake :).
Good news: one more week and I will be the very happy owner of a Rev2 - ohh the wait.....
-
Aw, we're just having fun, Gerry.
I'm looking forward to your Rev2 comments. I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the instrument.
-
Hurry up Gerry! We're all gonna be getting Rev 3's by the time yours arrives :)
-

You can talk up multi-timbrality till you're blue in the face; fact is, I've yet to hear the Andromeda produce anything that sounds as pleasing in timbre as the even less powerful Prophet 08.

Found another short video, kind of like "Berlin" style, playing with filter cutoff and envelopes: https://youtu.be/fJtIeJ35ueE
And another two (quite early Klaus Schulze like - really my thing):

Aw, we're just having fun, Gerry.
Isn't that what its all about? :) Luckily I have enough cool synths to play with while waiting for the prophet, and cool to see that more and more videos are coming out.

Very atmospheric piece, together with a Sub 37: https://youtu.be/ETeJjzSW4ng and very fresh of the press: https://youtu.be/2RZbhOwhQNc (also from Tarek Mansur).

Finally got my Rev2!! Love in first sight. Sounds GORGEOUS. It's an awesome PWM machine, IMO
Here are a couple of video demos I made as of today:

Here's something I did (I've spared you all the full ten minutes ;D ). It's not the best thing you'll hear today (or tomorrow, to be honest), and it's not been through any final treatment, but it is quite fun layering lots of sounds which use the gated sequencer. Nothing but my Rev2 used.

Not a video, just sound, my first track featuring the Rev2 posted here (in the Your Music forum): https://forum.davesmithinstruments.com/index.php/topic,127.0.html

Absolute synthnewbie here and the rev 2 is my first but beloved hardware. I made my first patches and a little piece with it, so all sounds and fx come from the Rev 2.

Not Youtube, but I made a track using nothing but the REV2 (including drums)
https://soundcloud.com/pkmood/needs-bass
All sounds are direct from rev with only minimal post processing like a delay on the master track and some reverb.

Nice, Gerry. I really like both the sounds and the music. Some very effective chord progressions, even dramatic. I think the Rev2 and Blofeld make an excellent combination.

Thanks Sacred, indeed I am starting to "grok" the Blofeld much better. The Rev2 is just marvelous, so much to learn and discover, no end.

Nice dude. Good sounds. Those two synths definitely compliment each other. I almost considered a blokey instead of my Rev2.
