I've recently purchased a Prophet 6 and love it. I also have a Prophet 08 and love that!!
While I was considering if I needed another polysynth (who doesn't!) I had difficulty getting any real unbiased info comparing the 2 synths. I know you can buy one and send it back within 30 days from most retailers, but for those who'd rather take a little longer to make a decision or those further afield who can't return goods, I thought I'd make some comparison videos.
1. Oscillators and Basic Modulation https://youtu.be/BP0Z_YWvU7E (https://youtu.be/BP0Z_YWvU7E)
2. Filters https://youtu.be/ksEMjOPDV1Y (https://youtu.be/ksEMjOPDV1Y)
3. Making Simple Pads https://youtu.be/5iqA4odRqrI (https://youtu.be/5iqA4odRqrI)
4. Sequencers and Arpeggiators https://youtu.be/3BkLoNXi0BE (https://youtu.be/3BkLoNXi0BE)
5. Complex Pads https://youtu.be/LNeUA014qTs (https://youtu.be/LNeUA014qTs)
I hope its of some use to someone... or I've wasted my time... :)
Enjoy.
BTW I've also posted this on the Prophet 08 pages - hope that's not breaking any forum rules.

Nice job! I just watched them all. I have both as well and I will be keeping both, too. I also just sent my Pro One out for service.
The Trifecta as far as I'm concerned.

I finally managed to watch your videos, Starsky, including the two bass-related ones. You did a very nice job. Thanks a lot for your effort!
For a second, it made me doubt whether it was right to sell my Prophet '08 in order to help funding a Prophet-6 in the near future. But then, I have to admit that I cleary choose sound over features in this case. If I didn't also have a Pro 2 though, I would probably rather stick to the Prophet '08 only.

My first post here. My prophet 6 is arriving Saturday so I found these fantastically helpful. I had a prophet 8 desktop (sold it - pre PE version and painful to programme with those first batch of encoders), which had a great sound but I think you nailed the difference. It was more edgy than I expected and made me work a little to calm it down. That said I loved it and hope the prophet 6 is the definitive DSI experience for me. I like to programme quickly, hate menus, so knob per function is where I'm at. I looked at mark doty's videos for DSI which I liked but thought yours were more detailed and the comparison with the P8 gave it a nice benchmark, well done and appreciate the time you put into them.

Did you know of these options?

Hi, yes I did, but it was a bit too late. Anyway just unboxed my new P 6 connected up, calibrated and then played it. My first reactions are, incredible sound, love the interface and well put together.. This is how synthesis is supposed to be - pull a sound up, turn the knobs until it sounds like you want it or you just find something completely unexpected!
This is a great synth and I've only had it 4 hours! Got to get back it...............
