Title: Local controls
Post by: Alexis83 on May 11, 2017, 01:49:34 AM
Hello everyone,

First of all, sorry if this post is not written in perfect English, I'm not an English native... Anyway, I'm having an issue with the "local function" on my MophoX4 and thought maybe someone could help.

My setup:
I'm using a MophoX4, run through a Beatstep Pro sequencer via Midi, all this goes into Maschine.

When a sequence is played, I'm turning the local control off on the Mopho, so that I can play the Mopho keyboard to just "transpose" the sequence, without having the notes interfering with the ones played by the sequencer. As a consequence, I don't have any more control on Mopho's front pannel for modulation... (so I have to turn local control on again...)
=> This is a problem for me. Ideally I'd like to keep the keyboard control "off" and the front pannel controls active. Is there a way to parameter the "local control" option in order to achieve this? Or maybe you have any other suggestion?

Thanks a lot for your help!!

Even though the front panel isn't directly controlling the Mopho anymore, due to local being off, parameter change messages are being sent from the MIDI Out. So if you can do two things

(1) Return the MIDI to your Mopho's MIDI In at the end of the chain, and
(2) Filter out the MIDI note data on the way

then that should solve your problem.

There are a few ways to filter out note data on its way back to the Mopho. Check the manuals of your existing products in the stream and see if they can do it. If not, you should be able to do it with your DAW, if you use one. Otherwise, you may need to rely on an external device like the MIDI Solutions Event Processor.

Thanks a lot chysn for your help! Ok, so I will try to filter notes data from the Maschine DAW

Oh and I see you have a Mopho as well, so I have another question... Do you know if it's possible to send a "play" command from my Mopho to the sequencer? So that the BTP starts playing when I hit a note on my keyboard...

Thanks again!!
