Hi. Which of these DAWs do you feel has tight sync with Tempest? Live, Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools.

Thank you.

Tried with Studio One, but Studio One's midi implementation is buggy, so I now moved on to use Ableton as my main DAW for production and live use. So far it's tight as a rock.

+1 for Live...In tips & tricks thread i wrote:

"To anyone searching for a tight sync between Ableton Live & Tempest if you own an iOS device with the free Midi Link Sync app and this adapter http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0W2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter
you can have a very tight sync using Ableton's Link feature  ;) "

The above method is excellent cause you can use Tempest as the master and even if you make drastic changes in tempo Live follows instantly..

Also sync improves when there is hardware monitoring. Monitoring through a mixer opposed to monitoring thorugh an audio interface and DAW. I got a pretty tight sync in Live this way and also adjusting midi clock sync delay in the preferences. Id record the tempest metranome and then ajust the sync delay. I got it tight, but then it would kinda drift out of sync after a couple of mintues. I like ableton link, but it doesnt always work for me. I think if the router has a lot of traffic that messes it up. Ive also done the adhoc  network, but sometimes it doesnt work either.

I'm using the Tempest with Digital Performer 9, so far no problems.

Speaking of grapevines, .... Someone told me Cubase has a tighter MIDI clock.

+1 for tight clock in Live with win7 64 via usb. Wifi and link has its own added latencies, so I don't bother when it matters. It swings less than +-.5 bpm each way, and thats damn good for analog gear on a latent windows setup. Maybe not perfect tight, but definitely (as a drummer) close enough to not be thrown about on it. Processing latency is usually worse. THis coming from a fan of NOT using quantatize much.

Works like a charm with Logic X and a motu Track 16. My advice, buy a cheap Berhinger ADAT to get all the separate outputs for extra daw treatment after ; )
