Title: MIDI CLOCK OUT SYNC TROUBLE
Post by: Telemann on January 13, 2017, 07:14:43 PM
Houston, I got a problem...

I have two drum machines that to this day I have not been able to MIDI Clock sync with the OB-6. I've tried different MIDI Cables, I've set the OB-6 to send and receive MIDI clock from these drum machines and both drum machines seem to completely ignore the MIDI clock data coming from the OB-6 and the OB-6 does not seems to accept Midi Clock from these...

I have tested the outgoing MIDI CLOCK Data from the OB-6 using a MIDI interface (M-Audio Midi Sport 2x2) and an OSX App called MIDI MONITOR and the outgoing Midi Clock data registers fine on the midi monitor app.

Is anyone having trouble syncing their OB-6 midi clock to other hardware?

Looks like the OB-6 is not the problem, the drum machines are. I was just able to midi sync my OB-6 to my friends Monologue, no problem

Update: so I decided to return one of the two drum machines and kept only one since I really didn't need both. The drum machine I kept is the Alesis SR-16, it's perfect for what I need it for and the price point.

So I finally got the drum machine (SR-16) to accept Master MIDI Clock data from the Korg Monologue and from Ableton Live (so I know I have it set up correctly) but I still have not figured out how to get the right settings on the OB-6 to work with it as a Master... Right now I have the following MIDI settings on the OB-6 to sent Master MIDI Clock:

- MIDI CHANNEL = ALL
- MIDI CLOCK = OUT
- CLOCK PORT = MIDI

Still, the SR-16 ignores the MIDI Clock from the OB-6 with these settings. Just to clarify, I have a 5-pin midi cable connected for the MIDI-out port on the OB-6 going to the MIDI-in on the SR-16. I'm I missing something? This is really starting to frustrate me... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

yeah that is the correct settings. check your HR-16 settings.

The settings on the SR-16 setting have been verified, if I plug in the Korg Monologue as a Master midi Clock, the SR-16 accepts it no problem, then unplugged the Korg Monologue, plug in the OB-6 with the settings I mentioned, then press play on the sequencer and NOTHING. I'm very confused... how can this be? Any ideas?

For those who want to look into using your Alesis SR-16 as a slave drum Machine with the OB-6, I found a workaround... I'm basically MIDI daisy chaining as follows: OB-6 > Korg Monologue > SR-16

As such I'm able to sync the MIDI clock of the OB-6 as the master and the Monologue and SR-16 slaves.

The weird thing is that if I want to connect the SR-16 as a slave directly from the OB-6, the SR-16 ignores the Master Clock from the OB-6.

I guess for now this solves my issue, or better yet, the Korg Monologue solves my issue.
