Pro 3 / Re: Crashing issue - not sure what to do
« Last post by unilateraldiscord on Today at 08:25:00 AM »
Okay, I may have fixed this after updating the Panel OS. When I installed it after the Main OS successfully saved to my model, there was no screen indication on the hardware that my Pro 3 was receiving the update. I sent it through MIDI USB again today and for whatever reason this time the panel indicated the installation was occurring. Now, the glide and hold functions are interacting with zero problem in any patch or preset I load. Will come back to this thread if I experience the crashing again!

Pro 3 / Crashing issue - not sure what to do
« Last post by unilateraldiscord on Today at 08:07:22 AM »
Hello everyone, I'm a proud owner of the Pro 3 and new to the forum here.

I picked up this machine second-hand at a Guitar Center around five months ago. It was a used item. Since I've had it, there has been a crashing issue with my model. It has not affected me as severely as it potentially could (e.g. I'm able to program patches and save them in addition to 99% of the parameters working fine) but I am not sure that I can ever use my Pro 3 for a live performance without worry. The text below details the problem I'm experiencing:

The glide and hold hardware buttons do not send any information to the synthesizer on patches and presets alike. This is the case when initially loading any patch or preset. If I tap either button, neither of them light up nor do they indicate changes in the panel. In addition to that, the LFO frequency knob and the modulation amount knob do not bring me to their panel pages when interacting with them. This has been mildly frustrating and I simply stopped caring for those parameters for a while after discovering the malfunction. I've tried searching online for any similar experiences and nothing has shown up. Yesterday, I got fed up with this issue and decided to troubleshoot it for a few hours. I had no luck until I unintentionally changed the LFO 1 default amount by one digit (up or down, doesn't matter) and suddenly all of the aforementioned parameters work as they are expected to. So, after interacting with the LFO amount on any given patch, I can then successfully interact with the glide and hold buttons on the hardware and in the panel in addition to being brought to panel pages by interacting with the LFO frequency and modulation amount knobs. However, that is the half of my issue. This is only a temporary fix to the problem and another malfunction occurs; at any given moment, the Pro 3 will randomly activate both glide and hold on the synthesizer (which shows on the hardware) and reset the patch to its default program settings. I genuinely have no idea why this occurs. Today, I found the 1.2.0.7 OS update and installed it on my model with hope that it would fix this problem but it is still behaving as it was before.

Anyone have this issue or know why this might be happening? Similarly, I have considered static discharge and unplugged a cord that connects in the outlet next to my Pro 3's power supply connection but that did not help.

Sequential Prophet-6 / Re: Help with P6 Module not transmitting MIDI
« Last post by thirteen_engines on Yesterday at 07:23:33 PM »
Hi!
I am having issues with my new P6 module not sending any MIDI info to logic when recording.(Logic Pro X) I can hear the synth and when i record an audio track, it records the audio, but no MIDI is written on the external synth track. I also am using my OB-6 as the MIDI controller.

I think that by default the midi out on the P6 is just that ... a midi out. What you want to use is the midi thru port. This will echo the midi coming in from the OB-6 out to your computer. Just tried it using my PX as the midi controller and it works fine.

I don't know Logic Pro, but I would assume that a midi track would have the ability to set midi channel and midi input device. If not then it's time to move to another DAW. Anyway, check that all is properly set in the midi track and it should work. Also check the audio/midi setup in the iMac utility folder to make sure your midi interface device is there and set up properly.

I use an iMac in my studio and do LOTS of midi. Two apps that I find extremely useful are Midi Patchbay and Midi Monitor, both of which are freely downloadable. I couldn't function without them. I have 9 midi devices in my studio and it's a very simple matter to connect one to another via Patchbay. Monitor is great for those times when something isn't working the way you want it to.

Hope you get it working.

Trigon-6 / Re: Trigon-6 MPE
« Last post by g3o2 on Yesterday at 08:48:16 AM »
I'm not positive about this, but it appears that the Amp envelope is still triggered when in MPE mode. In the case of the Osmose, it's the finger vertical motion (channel pressure?) that "generates" the envelope shape. I find hard to replicate the same sensitivity in the Trigon, but probably I'm missing something.

In the video here below, Josh and Anthony show what’s needed to make synths behave better under MPE. Their solution is a “gate which fires the envelope generators” (check at around 8:00 and following):

The synths in this video are modular, so I guess in the case of Trigon, Sequential would have to code this on their side as a sort of EG trigger/gate parameter.

Btw, Osmose’s sound generator (EaganMatrix, also a modular synth) does not only derive the envelope shape and duration from the fingers but also from programmed envelopes baked into the presets. I guess the idea is similar to the demonstration in the above video, even though the implementation might be very different in the EM.

Sequential Prophet-6 / Help with P6 Module not transmitting MIDI

Hi!

My setup is the P6>Audio Outs to interface> MIDI IN from P6> MIDI out to OB-6.
I have also tried connecting the USB from OB-6 as well as the P6 to the iMac as well.

Now if i change some settings in the globals, it will write MIDI but then there is no audio.

Can someone please help?  Thanks! MT

This is a track and video I did last year. I actually found a few of them that I never got around to posting. I figure no time like the present.

This is a semi cover/tribute to Alex Parker's score for Psycho Cop. A fun little  slasher from 1989. Although it's sequel (Psycho Cop Returns) got a blu ray release from Vinegar Syndrome, the original film still hasn't got a proper release.

No idea what Parker used on the score but the Prophet X is handling everything on this track. Piano, synth and even the drums. It starts off with a slow brooding piece and then kicks into a driving stalking theme. Nothing fancy but I think it turned out well.

Hope you enjoy!

Sequential Prophet-6 / Re: Output Level
« Last post by LPF83 on May 25, 2024, 11:04:06 AM »
The program level knob controls the volume individually for each patch.
I would then have to re-save all patches with a level that is too “hot”.
The 500 factory ROM patches would be left out.
That can't be the solution.

I am looking for a limitation of the maximum level.
This is not a problem or shortcoming of the Prophet 6, but the problem lies in the lack of input gain control of the Specular Tempus.
That's why I'm thinking of patch cables with an integrated -10db pad.

Compressor / limiter pedal between the synth and reverb pedal?
