Title: Using a passive direct box with mopho x 4 ?
Post by: pastal on December 27, 2015, 02:13:43 AM
Hi,
i'm using a mopho x 4 straight into the 'line in' of my Audient ID 22
Shall i buy a passive DI box to get better results ? For instance with jensen transformers ?
What do you guys use ?
Many thanks

HI!

Audient interfaces are well known for being very transparent when needed, so I'd say unless you want some added transformer mojo I'd carry on plugging your Mopho x4 straight into that line in (that's what I do withe my Prophet 12 into my Audient Mico).

Depends on what you're doing. The correct time to use a DI box is if you're on stage and need to run an unbalanced signal over a long distance (like, over 7 meters (20 feet)). If you're just running a few feet into an interface, a DI box will have no benefit.
