Philroy! Welcome to the club, dude! I bet this synth is gonna be right up your alley. Look forward to seeing what you create!
Thanks man, I'm pretty stoked! It will be the first synth I'll have after a pretty long period without much gear (Corona times suck.)
For the longest time I didn't even consider the Pro 3 because I'm usually dead set on polys. But as I listened back to how I actually ended up spending my time on the Rev2 and P6, I realized how much more the Pro 3 could offer me in terms of "Playing the knobs" and exploring those edge of chaos sounds.
I recently compiled a bunch of my favorite clips and sound experiments from the Prophet 6 before I sold it and 20/25 of these could have been done with a mono, ha. https://philk.bandcamp.com/album/sequential-prophet-6-short-clips
I think I'll really enjoy that unique paraphonic way of manipulating each voice whiel sequencing it round robin style.
Cheers bud!
Nice. Diggin' the P6 clips!.. lots of interesting, creative sound designs!
Yeah, I'm of the same mind... much more of a Poly guy generally. The Pro 3 just struck me as being so advanced and versatile with the huge mod matrix, three filters and amazing sequencer -- I had to get it, and so glad I did!
It's the most inspiring synth I've owned - to just sit in front of and quickly create music in a live setting. The sequencer is sooo much fun, and for live mangling and "playing the knobs" like I know you do so well, it's an ideal synth.
And yes, the paraphonic mode is really interesting too... surprisingly capable for paraphonic pads and chord sounds, and when paired with the sequencer, with para-sequencing set to off, that round robin type of capability is super cool if you mess with the oscillator octaves and osc settings in real time as the seq plays... I think you're gonna really dig that. I showed off some examples of that in the soundset I created:
