Program Volume via MIDI
« on: September 02, 2018, 11:24:17 AM »
Hi All,

I bought my Rev 2 specifically for its multi mode option, but am having a few problems with it, I wonder if anyone can help. I'd like to be able to control each program's MIDI volume discretly, yet when I send CC 7 to the global MIDI channal both programs are affected. Similarly, if I send CC7 to the next MIDI channel, both programs are affected. This seems strange as I can control all the other parameters on a per-channel basis, yet it seems the synth is seeing CC7 as master volume regardless of which channel I send it on.
Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

There are to nrpn that relate to the two different layers levels, they are in the midi implementation charts.
Rev2, Pro2, Tempest

Thank you Vincent - I have looked for them in the manual, and have looked again since reading your reply, and I can't find them. There's one reference under Received Controller Messages for 'Volume: Combinded with Master Volume and Program Volume', and nothing in the NPRN list. Would you mind telling me which page/number I'm looking for please..?

These are the NRPN's:
Layer A #29 (0+29)
Layer B #2077 (16+29)

Thanks Maxter,

I'd seen NPRN #29 was listed as Voice Volume, I'd assumed that was something other that program volume. But can't see where the layer B number is listed - ideally I'd like to look up this information myself and not have to post here - is there another more comprehensive list other than the one in the back of the manual?

Anyway thank you very much for your help.

Layer B nrpn number is always Layer A nprn number + 2048

A more comprehensive list... Unfortunately no, not that I know of... There are some parameters missing from the list in the manual, but as mentioned by Greg Smith every Layer B parameter is the same as Layer A + 2048, or with a byte of 16 instead of 0 for the LSB (or is it MSB? I keep mixing them up). A pretty neat solution for those programming editors and such for the Rev2.
